We were based in Tainan, so we searched where to buy a round-trip rapid train tickets from Tainan-Taipei-Tainan. Hotel receptionist informed us that we can buy it using ibon at 7-11. ibon is a machine where you can buy/reserve tickets and print documents from your flash drive (Not sure what else it can serve) at any 7-11 in Taiwan.
It was indeed convenient, the only inconvenience (for us) was the Chinese language, so we had to ask for assistance from 7-11 staff on how to buy rapid train tickets. Ticket was a bit pricey though.
