Tainan’s Confucius Temple is one of the oldest shrines that has a history of more than 350 years located at Nanmen Road, West Central District, Tainan City. Although there is not much to see, it is still worth a look to see ancient halls with detailed roof statues and to feel the peace and quietness inside the temple compound.

These are the pictures within the Confucius Temple area and below is the details about Tainan Confucius Temple:
The Tainan Confucius Temple was built in 1665 by Koxinga’s son Cheng Jing at the recommendation of his military consultant Chen Yonghwa, who believed that the long-term prosperity of the Cheng kingdom depended on the service of wise officials – the temple was established as a center for Confucian studies and classical education. In 1683, the Qing Government repaired the temple, naming it “Confucius Temple” and the School the “Edification Hall” as “Taiwan’s First institute of Learning”. Dacheng Palace is the main hall of the temple complex. Hanging from the roof beams are several wooden plaques paying homage to Confucius, presented to the temple by successive Qing Emperors and each of the Presidents of the Republic of China in Taiwan (with the exception of the last Qing Emperor, as Taiwan became a colony of Japan before his inauguration). These royal and presidential plaques are the most important and precious relics in Tainan Confucius Temple.
